APC Elders In Kwara South Condemned Bandit Attacks Across Communities

The All Progressive Congress (APC) Elders Forum in Kwara South has  expressed concerns over an alarming rise of violence across communities in Kwara staye, condemned the recent terrorist attack at the Christ Apostolic Church in Eruku, describing it as a barbaric and unacceptable tragedy.

The forum’s chairman, James Ayeni, noted that the latest incident adds to a long list of deadly attacks in the region, including killings in Oke-Ode, Babanla, Oreke and the murder of the Oloro of Koro. He lamented that over 50 people have been attacked along the Osi/Obbo-Ayegunle road in the last two years, stressing that the cycle of bloodshed must stop.

He commiserated with the Owa of Eruku, the affected families and congregants, while praising President Bola Tinubu and Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq for their rapid response. According to him, the deployment of additional security personnel and the approval of the Ilorin–Kabba expressway construction are positive steps toward curbing insecurity.

Ayeni also commended security agencies, vigilante groups and youth volunteers for their bravery in defending communities. Meanwhile, the state government has convened a security council meeting, and security agencies have arrested several suspects, including alleged suppliers of food, fuel and weapons to bandits.
