Akume Warns Against Fraudsters Cloning His Voice for Fake Appointments

Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Senator George Akume, has raised an alarm about criminal syndicates cloning his voice to deceive people with false promises of federal government appointments. According to a statement by his media adviser, Yomi Odunuga, the fraudsters are using the fake voice to solicit money from high-profile individuals.

The scammers reportedly claim that their targets have been selected for appointments and then demand payment to process the fake offers. They also go as far as cloning phone numbers of well-known individuals and send out messages with bank account details, asking victims to deposit between N5 million and N15 million and submit their CVs via fake email addresses.

Akume distanced himself from the fraud and warned the public to be cautious, stating that appointments into boards and parastatals are done through transparent and verifiable processes. He urged Nigerians not to pay money to anyone in exchange for government positions.

The Office of the SGF has informed security agencies and is urging citizens to report any suspicious activity. Akume advised Nigerians to take precautions and avoid falling victim to the scam, which has become increasingly widespread.
