Ekiti State Governor, Biodun Oyebanji, has officially declared his intention to seek a second term in office during a meeting with the All Progressives Congress (APC) Central Working Committee at the party secretariat in Ado-Ekiti. He cited massive support from various sectors of society including traditional rulers, civil servants, artisans, youth groups, and political stakeholders—as a key motivation for his decision. Oyebanji emphasized the need to build on the progress of his first term and continue delivering quality governance.

The governor expressed gratitude to the APC leadership and reiterated his administration’s commitment to democratic principles and party unity, insisting that there is no crisis within the party’s leadership. He called on Ekiti residents to obtain their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) ahead of the 2026 gubernatorial election, stressing the importance of civic participation in securing the state’s future. He also reaffirmed his respect for party leaders and pledged continued humility and service.
APC State Chairman, Barr. Sola Elesin, praised Oyebanji’s inclusive leadership style and performance, describing him as a unifying figure within the party and the state. Other top officials present at the declaration included the Deputy Governor, the Speaker of the State House of Assembly, and other senior government and party members who collectively endorsed his re-election bid.
