Troops of Operation Safe Haven have rejected a bribe of N13.7 million offered by terrorists during an operation along the Jos-Sanga Road in Plateau State. According to the Director of Defence Media Operations, Maj.-Gen. Markus Kangye, the troops intercepted two terrorists following a distress call and declined their attempt to offer monetary gratification. The money, along with weapons, ammunition, and a vehicle, was recovered and remains in military custody pending further investigation.

The military operation extended to several Local Government Areas (LGAs) including Bassa, Barkin Ladi, South Wase, Riyom, and Jos East in Plateau State, and Kaura and Sanga LGAs in Kaduna State. During these operations, troops engaged extremist groups, killed some terrorists, arrested 12 suspects, and successfully rescued three kidnapped victims. Additionally, they seized various weapons, motorcycles, and other operational items used by the criminals.
Routine patrols by the troops also led to the arrest of seven militias and criminals across Barkin Ladi and Jos South LGAs in Plateau, and Wamba and Sanga LGAs in Nasarawa and Kaduna States. Items recovered from these suspects included weapons, ammunition, motorcycles, and illicit drugs, highlighting the wide-ranging success of the coordinated military efforts in the region.
Maj.-Gen. Kangye praised the troops for their professionalism and called on the public to continue supporting the military by remaining alert and reporting suspicious activities. He emphasized the importance of public and media cooperation in the ongoing fight against insecurity and promised continued transparency and timely updates on the progress of military operations.
