PRP Slams APC’s 2027 Tinubu Endorsement as Desperate Power Move

The Peoples Redemption Party (PRP) has strongly criticized the All Progressives Congress (APC) for endorsing President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s 2027 re-election bid, labeling it a “desperate power grab” that disregards the will and suffering of ordinary Nigerians. The endorsement was announced during the APC National Summit by the party’s National Working Committee, the Progressive Governors Forum, and members of the National Assembly.

In a statement signed by PRP National Chairman Dr. Falalu Bello, the party argued that true democracy goes beyond party endorsements and should focus on delivering meaningful governance, security, and dignity. Bello emphasized that manipulating political structures for power undermines democracy and weakens trust between leadership and citizens.

The PRP cited international examples such as Ivory Coast, Zambia, and Gambia, where leaders lost power despite political maneuvering, as proof that people-powered governance is more sustainable than forced endorsements. The party stressed that genuine power must stem from citizens’ trust, not elite desperation.

Highlighting Nigeria’s current struggles—including high fuel prices, joblessness, insecurity, and economic instability—the PRP urged the APC and President Tinubu to focus on governance and delivering results. It concluded by reaffirming its solidarity with the Nigerian people, declaring that real power lies in their voices, struggles, and aspirations.
