Governor Charles Soludo of Anambra State declared that the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) has adopted President Bola Tinubu as its candidate for the 2027 presidential election. Soludo made this announcement during Tinubu’s one-day working visit to the state, where several projects were commissioned. He emphasized APGA’s tradition of supporting the government at the center and praised Tinubu’s leadership, pledging Anambra’s continued support. In return, Tinubu endorsed Soludo for re-election and commended his development strides in Anambra.

The endorsement sparked varied reactions among political stakeholders. While figures like Ambassador Bianca Ojukwu and APC chieftain Osita Okechukwu supported the move, calling it a sign of inclusivity and strategic alignment, others expressed disapproval. APGA’s founder, Chekwas Okorie, condemned the declaration as misleading and self-serving, denying that Soludo had the authority to commit the party. PDP BoT Chairman, Senator Adolphus Wabara, described it as a desperate attempt for political survival, and governorship aspirant Valentine Ozigbo criticized Soludo’s administration as ineffective and lacking in tangible achievements.
Amid defections from opposition parties to the APC across the South-East and South-South, the political landscape is shifting in favor of Tinubu. His alliance with Soludo signals a deepening influence in the region, as both leaders highlight themes of national unity, progressive governance, and infrastructure development. However, the APGA-Tinubu pact continues to stir internal party tensions and questions over leadership legitimacy.
