Vice President Kashim Shettima on Monday received Sweden’s Crown Princess Victoria Désirée at the Aso Rock Presidential Villa in Abuja, marking the beginning of her official visit to Nigeria from April 7 to 9, 2025.

Princess Victoria was welcomed by the Deputy Chief of Staff to the President, Senator Ibrahim Hadejia, and later escorted to the VP’s office. The visit aims to strengthen diplomatic and economic ties between Nigeria and Sweden, according to the Swedish Embassy.
A major highlight of her trip is the commissioning of the Swedish Trade Office in Lagos, a move expected to enhance bilateral trade relations. She will also meet with Foreign Affairs Minister Yusuf Tuggar and Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu during her stay.
The visit follows Shettima’s own trip to Sweden last October, where he met the Crown Princess at the Royal Palace in Stockholm. It also adds to a growing list of royal engagements with Nigeria, following visits from Prince Harry and Meghan Markle in 2024 and King Charles III in 2018.
