U.S. President Donald Trump has introduced a new $5 million residency permit dubbed the “gold card,” aimed at attracting affluent investors and job creators, including wealthy Nigerian migrants. The premium visa, presented as an alternative to the traditional green card, features Trump’s face and is branded “The Trump Card.”

Trump, who claims to be the initiative’s first buyer, said the card could be available within two weeks and would potentially offer a path to U.S. citizenship for those who can afford it.
He argued that the revenue from the program could help reduce the national deficit. The proposal marks a notable shift in immigration policy, favoring wealth-based entry amid ongoing crackdowns on undocumented migrants and debates over legal immigration. Trump also suggested the possibility of selling up to a million of these cards, without excluding controversial buyers such as Russian oligarchs.
