Peter Obi Decries Bokkos Massacre, Urges Swift Government Action Against Insecurity

Labour Party’s 2023 presidential candidate, Peter Obi, has condemned the brutal killings in Bokkos Local Government Area of Plateau State, where over 40 people, including children and pregnant women, lost their lives in attacks on five communities. In a strongly worded statement, Obi described the massacre as senseless and heartbreaking, questioning the government’s silence and inaction in the face of worsening insecurity across the country.

He lamented that such mass killings and burials are becoming normalized, with communities across Nigeria now living in fear—unable to go to farms or markets without risking abduction or death. Obi named other similarly affected areas, including Jato-Aka in Benue, Eha-Amufu in Enugu, Ufuma in Anambra, and Aba Oyinbo in Ondo, demanding that the government fulfill its constitutional duty to protect citizens.

Calling the situation “extremely unacceptable,” he urged the Federal Government and security agencies to take decisive action to end the violence, prevent future attacks, and ensure that justice is served for the victims and their families.
