Edison Ehie, Chief of Staff to suspended Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara, has claimed he was offered N5 billion to lead Fubara’s impeachment. Speaking on Channels TV, Ehie stated that he has evidence of the bribe, which he has stored and distributed for safety.

He also denied accusations that he orchestrated the October 30, 2023, bombing of the Rivers Assembly complex, calling them politically motivated.
The claims were made by former Head of Service, George Nwaeke, who alleged he saw Ehie receive a bag of money for the act but admitted he didn’t know the amount inside.
Ehie has instructed his lawyers to file a criminal libel suit against Nwaeke, dismissing the allegations as false.
The Rivers political crisis escalated after Fubara’s fallout with his predecessor, Nyesom Wike. President Tinubu declared a state of emergency on March 18, suspending both Fubara and his deputy, while the newly appointed sole administrator, Ibok-Ete Ibas, removed all political officeholders on March 26.
