The Secretary of Munya Local Government Area, Niger State, Daina Usman, who was abducted alongside his wife, two children, and another person on Thursday night, managed to escape from his captors on Friday.

According to Council Chairman Aminu Najumei, Usman fled while the kidnappers were searching for a hiding place.
The attack occurred around 10 p.m. at Usman’s residence in Sarkin Pawa, an area frequently targeted by bandits. The abductors moved the hostages to Chikun Local Government Area in Kaduna State, known as a criminal escape route. Upon receiving a distress call, security operatives, including military personnel, police tactical teams, and local vigilantes, launched a manhunt to rescue the remaining victims.
Niger State Police Command spokesperson Wasiu Abiodun confirmed the incident, stating that efforts to secure the release of the other hostages were ongoing.
