A widow Safiya Hassan Yakasai has sued two of her late husband’s brothers to court over an alleged disappearance of a bag containing valuable documents after her husband’s death.
Safiya Hassan Yakasai informed the court that the bag taken by her husband brotyers, Abdul Sallam Bello and Abdul Kareem Bello contained papers including landed property documents and other official records.
According to the her, it has been over a year and half since the incident happened and she is yet to receive any explanation or see the missing documents.
She stated that she and her late husband had nine children together and the documents are considered crucial for her family ‘s well being.
One of the brothers told the court that his brother is currently ill and bedridden and would only be able to respond to the claims once he recovers.
Presiding over the matter, Khadi Abdu Abdullahi directed the police to investigate the allegations and file a separate case with the appropriate court of jurisdiction.
