Senator Adolphus Wabara, former Senate President and current Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Board of Trustees, has dismissed President Bola Tinubu’s claims of reviving Nigeria’s economy as misleading and insulting to citizens enduring severe hardship. He asserted that if the economy were truly improving, ordinary Nigerians would naturally acknowledge the progress rather than require persuasion.

Highlighting worsening economic conditions, Wabara pointed to rising inflation, hunger, and poverty as evidence contradicting the President’s statements. He criticized the administration for making rhetorical claims instead of addressing the root causes of economic distress, such as high market prices and weakened consumer purchasing power.
Wabara urged President Tinubu to use the remainder of his term to implement meaningful reforms, particularly in reviewing multiple taxation policies that he argued are stifling businesses and worsening the cost of living. He emphasized the need for a strategic shift towards policies that alleviate the burdens on citizens and stimulate genuine economic growth.
He also raised concerns about national security, noting that persistent insecurity has displaced farmers and worsened food shortages. Wabara accused the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) of mismanaging the economy and eroding gains made under previous PDP administrations. Despite current struggles, he remained hopeful that the economy would recover once the PDP returns to power in 2027.
