US Congressman Scott Perry has alleged that the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) funded the Boko Haram terrorist group.
Speaking in a video shared on X, Perry said that funding from USAID was given to Boko Haram under the Barack Obama and Joe Biden administrations.
USAID has been at the centre of controversy following startling revelations since President Donald Trump resumed office.
Trump’s decision to suspend USAID activities was met with backlash from Democrats who continue to criticise the US president’s move.
In the video clip posted on social media, Perry stated partly: “Who gets some of that money?… ISIS, Al Qaeda, Boko Haram…, terrorist training camps. That’s what it’s funding.”
As of the time of writing this report, neither Obama nor Biden have responded to the allegation.
