Another female student of Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba-Akoko (AAUA), Joy Adeyemi from the Department of Human Kinetics, has been gruesomely murdered by her boyfriend, sparking widespread student protests in the community. This incident comes just three weeks after two other students were abducted and killed, raising serious concerns about student safety. Joy, who ran a POS business, was allegedly killed and locked in a room by her boyfriend, who absconded with her money. Neighbors discovered her decomposing body after perceiving a foul odor.

The tragedy has provoked outrage among students, who took to the streets with placards demanding justice and intervention from the Ondo State Government. The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), Ondo Axis, condemned the continuous attacks and issued a 24-hour ultimatum to authorities, urging swift action to capture the perpetrators and enforce stronger security in the area. They warned of a nationwide protest if their demands were ignored.
Meanwhile, police spokesperson Ayanlade Olayinka confirmed the killing and announced that the suspect had fled but was being pursued. He also revealed that three other suspects had been arrested for questioning. The students’ union continues to call for accountability, asserting that the government must act decisively to prevent further bloodshed and protect the university community.
