“Tinubu’s Current Political Strength Should Not Be Taken As Automatic Assurance of Victory In 2027 Election “-Kwankwaso

Former Kano State Governor and Vice presidential running mate to Peter Obi, Rabiu Kwankwaso, has said that political support from governors alone cannot determine the outcome of a presidential election, as voters ultimately decide who wins at the polls. He argued that the current political strength of the Tinubu administration should therefore not be taken as an automatic assurance of victory.

Kwankwaso made the statement while highlighting the unpredictability of Nigeria’s electoral politics. He pointed to the experience of former President Goodluck Jonathan, who was defeated in the 2015 presidential election despite being the sitting president and having the backing of several political structures.

According to him, “If Goodluck Jonathan as sitting president could lose, 30 governors can’t save Tinubu,” Kwankwaso said, stressing that electoral victories depend on the mood and choices of Nigerians rather than merely the number of political office holders backing a candidate.
