Three Dead, Eleven Rescued in Ikorodu Building Collapse

A two-storey building under construction collapsed in the Ikorodu area of Lagos on Tuesday, resulting in the deaths of three individuals—two adult males and a teenage girl. The incident occurred around 2 p.m., and the cause of the collapse remains unknown as of the time of reporting.

The Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) confirmed that 11 men were successfully rescued from the rubble and received medical attention from the agency’s Pre-Hospital Care Unit. LASEMA’s Permanent Secretary, Dr. Olufemi Oke-Osanyintolu, stated that the agency activated its emergency response immediately after receiving alerts, deploying multiple specialized teams to the site.

Heavy-duty rescue equipment, including excavators and floodlights, were used to aid the search operation. The coordinated effort involved several emergency agencies such as LASEMA, the police, fire service, FRSC, LASBCA, and LNSC. The search and rescue mission continues as authorities work to ensure no victims are left beneath the debris.
