The Supreme Court of Nigeria has reinstated Senator Samuel Anyanwu as the National Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
In a unanimous ruling by a five-member panel on Friday, the apex court held that issues concerning the leadership or membership of a political party are internal affairs and should not be determined by the courts.
The judgment set aside the December 20, 2024, decision of the Court of Appeal, Enugu Division, which had upheld a Federal High Court ruling that removed Anyanwu from office. The Supreme Court ruled that the Federal High Court lacked jurisdiction to hear the case filed by Aniagwu Emmanuel, thereby restoring Anyanwu to his position in the party.
