Foollowibg an allegations made by Kebbi state governor, Nasir Idris that troops assigned to protect the school were pulled out around 3:00 a.m., and the attackers struck less than an hour later, Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe reacted strongly to reports that soldiers were withdrawn from a Kebbi school shortly before the kidnapping of 24 schoolgirls.

In an interview on Arise Television, Abaribe insisted that whoever ordered the withdrawal must be identified and held responsible. He emphasized that there is a clear military hierarchy, and such a sensitive decision could not have been made without authorization. According to him, the lack of swift government and military response creates the impression that there may be internal collusion.
The senator warned that this situation undermines public confidence and raises fears that even personnel meant to protect citizens could compromise their safety. He stressed that Nigeria has reached a point where the government must decisively address security lapses and restore trust in the country’s defence institutions.
