The Nigerian Police, Nasarawa state Command have arrested a suspect, identified as Khadija Aliyu for stealing a 7 day old baby at a naming ceremony in Keffi.
According to a statement signed by the Nasarawa state’s Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Ramnan Nansel, the incident occurred behind the office of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, in Keffi on Saturday September 28, 2024 during a naming ceremony.
“The suspect who has been claiming to be pregnant was arrested by police operatives attached to Keffi Division of the Police Force.
“While the event was ongoing, she sneaked into the house and stole the baby that was laid to sleep, carried the child behind her back, covered her with a veil and escaped before she was later arrested,” the statement reads further.
