Police Arrest Two Suspects Over Alleged Witchcraft Killing in Born

oThe Borno State Police Command has arrested two suspects linked to the murder of a 50-year-old woman, Hajara Saleh, in the Bantine community, Biu Local Government Area. The suspects, Ja’o Muhammad, Idrisa Muhammad, and a third accomplice still at large, allegedly conspired to kill Saleh, accusing her of witchcraft and causing misfortune.

According to Commissioner of Police Yusuf Lawan, the victim sustained fatal injuries before succumbing to her wounds. The police were alerted by residents, and upon arrival, found that the victim had already been buried by her husband and family. Investigators gathered evidence despite the burial.

The suspects face charges of criminal conspiracy and culpable homicide. Lawan condemned the act as barbaric, urging the public to report suspicions to authorities instead of resorting to vigilante justice. A manhunt is ongoing for the remaining suspect.
