Police Arrest Drug Suspects, Seize Over 4,600 Illicit Drugs in Jigawa

Several suspected drug dealers have been arrested by operstives of the Jigawa State Police Command and recovered more than 4,600 wraps and quantities of illicit drugs during coordinated raids across the state.

According to a statement by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Shi’isu Lawan Adam, the arrests followed intelligence-led operations carried out in various local government areas to curb drug trafficking and related crimes. One of the suspects, Mutari Shu’aibu, a 20-year-old from Dutse LGA, was arrested alongside others in towns including Guri, Gumel, Kazaure, Ringim, Birnin Kudu, and Kafin Hausa.

The police said a total of 4,658 wraps and quantities of suspected hard drugs, believed to be intended for sale within local communities, were recovered and documented as exhibits. After investigations, all the suspects were charged to court.
Commending the operation, the Commissioner of Police, CP Dahiru Muhammad, praised the officers for their professionalism and reaffirmed the command’s resolve to clamp down on drug trafficking and abuse. The police also urged residents to support security agencies with credible information, assuring the public of continued efforts to keep Jigawa State safe and drug-free.
