Senior Pastor of the Mountain of Liberation and Miracles Ministries, astor Chris Okafor has stepped down temporarily from his pastoral duties following multiple sexual misconduct allegations against him. The decision came after intense public outrage and pressure from senior Christian leaders, especially within the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN). Although some church members dismissed the claims as blackmail, the growing number of accusers made the situation difficult to ignore.

The controversy began after actress Doris Ogala accused the pastor of a long-term sexual relationship that allegedly started in 2017. She claimed he repeatedly promised to marry her but later married another woman in December 2025.
Ogala also accused him of emotional manipulation, sharing explicit materials, and causing emotional and financial damage. She later demanded ₦1 billion in damages through a legal notice.
As the scandal deepened, more women came forward with similar accusations, including claims of secret affairs, pregnancies, abortions, and broken promises of marriage. A former wife accused Okafor of infidelity and physical abuse, while another woman alleged he fathered her child. There were also disturbing claims from a lady who said she was his daughter and accused him of inappropriate advances, though this was denied by the pastor.
PFN officials clarified that while they lack the power to investigate criminal matters, they can apply spiritual discipline. According to them, Okafor was pressured to step down to calm tensions while decisions are being considered. Meanwhile, the Lagos State Police said no formal petition has been filed, making it impossible to arrest or investigate him at this time.
In response, Pastor Okafor said he stepped aside on God’s instruction for rest, prayer, and spiritual renewal, insisting the break was not an admission of guilt. Christian leaders under CAN urged pastors to live upright lives and warned that judgment begins in the house of God. While some called for repentance and restoration, others stressed the need for discipline, accountability, and caution in handling such sensitive matters.
