At a special thanksgiving service for students in Lagos, Pastor Enoch Adeboye, General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, encouraged Nigerian youth to pursue success through hard work, focus, and faith in God. Speaking on the theme “Exceeding Greatness,” he referenced biblical figures like Jacob to illustrate how diligence and godly values are essential for achieving greatness. Quoting Proverbs 12:24, he warned against laziness and emphasized that there is no place for idleness in God’s kingdom.

Pastor Adeboye shared his own journey out of poverty, revealing how education and determination changed his life. Recalling how he fasted for three days to pressure his parents into raising school fees, he urged students to remain resolute in their goals. Meanwhile, Pastor Oladele Balogun, his assistant, appealed to teachers nationwide to model integrity and godliness, noting that students are more likely to emulate values they witness firsthand.
