Aurelio de Laurentiis, the president of Napoli, accepts responsibility for the team’s present troubles and pledges January acquisitions.

In the wake of Friday night’s dismal goalless draw in Serie A against Monza, Aurelio De Laurentiis, the president of Napoli, has made a noteworthy statement.
Despite keeping Victor Osimhen and most of the other players that helped them win their first Scudetto in thirty-three years the previous season, Laurentiis was unable to sufficiently replace Luciano Spalleti, the team’s brains, after initially failing to persuade him to stay on.
In the summer, while the other Serie A teams got ready to unseat the new champion, he also failed to fortify the team.
Having acknowledged the team’s difficulties, he has taken an uncommon—though not unheard of for him—step in football administration by publicly taking ownership of the team’s present state of play.
Fabrizio Romano claims that De Laurentiis stated,
“It’s only my fault, my responsibility.” This season is all on me; neither players nor coaches can take the blame.
De Laurentiis pledged to strengthen the team in the forthcoming January transfer window to address the situation. “I’m here to apologize to Napoli fans for our season,” he said. In January, we’ll make the necessary changes by adding new players.
