Nigerian Navy shuts down illegal oil sites in Ondo

The Nigerian Navy Forward Operating Base in Igbokoda, Ondo State, dismantled nine illegal refining sites in the Obenla area after days of surveillance.

The operation, led by Navy Captain Aliyu Usman on Monday, resulted in the destruction of about 20,000 litres of stolen crude oil and 15,000 litres of illegally refined diesel. The suspects had fled before the officers arrived.

He noted the scale of the operation, highlighting the large quantity of stolen oil being processed. He also assured that the Navy would continue monitoring the sites to prevent a resurgence of criminal activities.

Additionally, he urged community leaders to educate residents on the dangers of harboring criminals and to report illegal activities promptly.
