A thirty three year old Nigerian, 33-year-old Nigerian man, Geoffrey Dozieobiibe, f has been deported by the Hyderabad Police Task Force after he was arrested for illegally entering India through Nepal and allegedly associating with drug traffickers.
According to The Times of India, Dozieobiibe was apprehended in the Tolichowki area after police found his movements suspicious. Investigations revealed that he had entered India in 2019 without a valid passport or visa and had been residing in the country unlawfully.
Authorities disclosed that although no narcotics were found in his possession, Dozieobiibe maintained contacts with known drug dealers in Hyderabad and Bangalore, posing a high risk of involvement in drug peddling. After confirming his identity and lack of travel documents through the Foreigners Regional Registration Office and Hyderabad Narcotic Enforcement Wing, an emergency certificate was obtained from the Nigerian Embassy to process his deportation. He was subsequently sent back to Nigeria on October 2, 2025.
The case adds to rising concerns in India over illegal migration and drug-related crimes involving foreign nationals. Just weeks earlier, two Nigerian men who had escaped from a Nepalese jail during protests were arrested at the India-Nepal border in Bihar. Authorities say such incidents highlight the need for tighter border control and stronger international cooperation to curb transnational crime.
