Netanyahu Vows Full Control of Gaza Amid Intensified Military Offensive

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu declared on Monday that Israel intends to seize full control of Gaza, as military operations in the territory escalate. This statement follows an intensified campaign involving heavy airstrikes and a renewed ground offensive against Hamas.

In a video shared on Telegram, Netanyahu emphasized Israel’s determination to achieve victory by any means necessary. Meanwhile, the military issued evacuation orders in Khan Yunis and surrounding areas, warning of an “unprecedented attack.” The ongoing offensive has sparked international concern, particularly over the worsening humanitarian crisis in the enclave.

The World Health Organization (WHO) and United Nations agencies have warned of dire shortages of food, water, fuel, and medical supplies in Gaza. WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus reported that two million people are starving, with vital aid blocked just minutes away at border crossings. Israel’s blockade, imposed in early March, is aimed at pressuring Hamas, but Netanyahu acknowledged the need to prevent a full-scale famine to maintain international support. Israeli officials are divided, with some far-right ministers opposing aid, while others support limited deliveries to ensure basic survival and uphold global diplomatic backing.

The military offensive has led to high casualties, with at least 22 people killed in recent airstrikes. Khan Yunis and Deir el-Balah have seen particularly severe attacks, prompting scenes of chaos and despair in hospitals.

Civilians describe the situation as apocalyptic, with widespread destruction and trauma. As the conflict intensifies, global calls for intervention grow louder, with many pleading for a resolution to the devastating war that has already claimed over 53,000 lives since it began in October 2023.
