MEET THE INVENTOR OF SMART BLADDER, ISA DAHIRU

Though Nigeria is yet to esterblish a national center or a day to honour Nigerian inventors and highlights the achievement of these great Nigerians, ZINARI News celebrate Isa Dahiru, a Nigerian inventor and a Pharmacist. His invention was considered a breakthrough for modernising the medical  World for people with urinary incontinence especially the elderly people through the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC), “2023 NCC Talent Hunt Research Through Hackathon”.

Isa Dahiru is from Awuyo Local Government of Jigawa State. He won the “Assistive Tech Thematic Area” Category Award at the just concludeed NCC Talent Hunt Research Through Hackathon.

Isa Dahiru, created a wearable device called
“SMART BLADDER” that can help manage urinary incontinence in elderly people and reduce the cost of their daily spending while ensuring proper personal hygiene.

The device is a wearable pampers/diapers, wristwatch like, flattened and easy to use device. It has a bioactivated sensor that works to help in automatic control of the opening and closing of the sphincter of the bladder.

It sends impulse to the brain, that tells the brain that the bladder is filled and needs voiding. With that, there will be no urination on oneself.

The smart bladder has;

-Wearable medical device,
-An artificial intelligence powered bioactivated sensor, organic copper electrodes,
-In-silico simulated receptor cells
-Hashing doodle and microchip

Once the device is in contact with your skin, the bioactivated sensors will be activated and impulse will be sent to the brain and overactive bladders are then sensitized to allow normal micturition reflex.

The Assistive Tech Thematic Area Category is for the participants to create a technology that can assist elderly people and people with urinary problem urinate at the right time and without peeing on themselves. His invention won the 1st position medal under that category and took home a cash award of N10 million from NCC.

According to a twitter post by MS Ingawa @MSingawa, “This is the hight of how intelligent Nigerians are. This is just the reason why they begin to shine immediately they step in a country that encourages and appreciates talent.

“This work alone has potential of adding value to our economy through industrialization of the idea. I hope we will not lose this very intelligent, creative, innovative and smart guy to Nigerian factor.”

The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) should be recognise adequately funded to save more support as thus Nigerian inventors are bring fame to Nigeria.

Throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, NCC  continued to engaged innovative Nigerians through its annual Talent Hunt Research Through Hackathon in finding solutions by creating technologies, hardware and software to helping solve challenges of Nigerians and as well flourish in Nigeria.
