Lagos Signs MoU to Integrate Danfo Buses into Modern Transport System

According to the Lagos state government, the partnership will pave the way for the integration of the iconic yellow buses, popularly known as danfo, into a more modern and structured transport network. The initiative is expected to enhance safety standards, improve service delivery and ensure better compliance with operational regulations.

State officials said the move forms part of the government’s broader efforts to reform the transport sector and provide commuters with a more reliable and efficient public transit system. The agreement will also strengthen collaboration between the government and transport unions in implementing the reforms.

With the MoU now in place, the Lagos State Government hopes to transform the informal bus sector into a professionally managed system that supports urban mobility and meets the transportation needs of the state’s growing population. The initiative is expected to contribute to a safer, more organised and sustainable public transport network.
