Lagos State has emerged as Nigeria’s most competitive business environment, having won the “Best Subnational for Ease of Doing Business”, the “Best State Reform Champion” in Nigeria and as the top performer in both categories, scoring 85.6 per cent through a performance driven by reforms in land administration, taxation, digital processes, trade logistics, and investor support service at the Presidential Enabling Business Council (PEBEC) 2025 Awards, held recently at the Banquet Hall, Presidential Villa, Abuja.
Receiving the award on behalf of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, Commissioner for Commerce, Cooperatives, Trade and Investment, Mrs. Folashade Bada Ambrose, stated that the 2025 Subnational Ease of Doing Business (EoDB) Report and the 2025 Business Facilitation Act (BFA) Performance Report, offer the clearest picture of how states and federal agencies have shaped Nigeria’s business climate in 2025.
Her words: “The report evaluated states across 16 indicators and 36 sub-metrics, covering electricity reliability, skilled labour availability, commercial justice delivery, digital connectivity, taxation, and MSME support. PEBEC noted that the 2025 edition introduced a deeper layer of data-driven benchmarking, enabling states to better identify reform gaps and track progress against peers.”
Mrs. Ambrose commended Governor Sanwo-Olu; the Deputy Governor, Dr. Obafemi Hamzat; entire leadership and the Ease of Doing Business (EODB) Team for working to sustain the state’s status as a leading attractive and investment-friendly destination in Africa.
