Governor Umar Namafi of Jigawa State made an unannounced visit to the State Secretariat on Monday morning to assess the attendance of civil servants at their various offices. The surprise inspection was aimed at monitoring punctuality and ensuring government workers were present at their duty posts.
During the visit, the governor toured the secretariat to observe the level of compliance with official working hours. The inspection formed part of efforts to promote discipline, accountability, and efficiency within the state’s civil service.
According to reports, by 11:00 a.m., no government worker was found at the secretariat. The absence of staff during official working hours reportedly raised concerns about attendance and commitment to public service.
The development is expected to prompt further action by the state government as it seeks to improve productivity and enforce discipline across the civil service. Authorities are yet to announce any specific measures that may follow the governor’s surprise inspection.
