The special independent investigative panel on human rights violation during counter Insurgency Operation in the North East (SIIP- North East) reconvenes for its 8th sitting yesterday, December 14, 2023, following a break to deliberate on the evidence it received.
A statement shared on the social media page of the NHRC Nigeria stated that, during the reconvened sitting, Major General John Ochai, Commandant of the Nigerian Defence Academy, made the first appearance before the Panel.
The next witness to testify before the Panel is Major General Sulaiman Idris (Retired). He previously served as the Chief of Staff, Theatre Command Operation Lafiya Dole in 2015, he also held the position of Commander for Sector 3 Command, Damaturu in 2020.
