Residents of Aderinola Street and Adeyi Avenue in Ibadan held a candlelight procession on Thursday to honour victims of the 2024 Ibadan explosion, which occurred a year ago in Bodija Estate.

The blast, caused by illegal miners storing explosives in a residential apartment, claimed five lives and damaged over 50 houses and vehicles.
Governor Seyi Makinde attributed the tragedy to negligence and set up a 10-member committee in December to oversee relief fund distribution, emphasizing that the support was not compensation.
The Bodija Estate Residents’ Association organized an interdenominational memorial service at Bodija Estate Baptist Church, unveiling the names and faces of the deceased. A Jumat prayer is also scheduled for Friday at Bodija Central Mosque.
