Over the weekend, armed assailants launched an attack on a church in Asagba Ogwashi, located in Aniocha South Local Government Area of Delta State, injuring the pastor and kidnapping six congregants.

The Delta State Police Public Relations Officer, Bright Edafe, confirmed the incident on Sunday, stating that authorities received the report on Saturday evening. He added that a rescue team had been dispatched and was actively searching for the perpetrators.
According to eyewitnesses, the gunmen targeted Elyon Paradise Ministry Church during a night vigil, seizing six worshippers and forcefully taking them to an undisclosed location. The church’s leader, Apostle Divine Omodia, suffered gunshot wounds and had two fingers severed in the attack.
As of now, the kidnappers have not reached out to either the church or the victims’ families with any ransom demands. Meanwhile, the injured pastor is receiving medical treatment at an undisclosed hospital, where healthcare workers are working to stabilize his condition.
