Edna Ibru, née Park, the former First Lady of Delta State and wife of Chief Felix Ibru, the state’s first civilian governor, has passed away in London on January 15, 2025, after a brief illness.
Her death was announced by her son, Paul, who described her as a loving and humorous mother, a mediator, and a caring individual.
Edna Ibru was a trailblazer, winning the Miss Nigeria beauty pageant in 1964 and becoming the first Nigerian to represent the country at Miss Universe. Burial arrangements will be announced by her family at a later date.
