Senior Advocate of Nigeria and Human Rights Activist, Femi Falana, has criticized the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) for setting petrol prices after deregulation, calling it illegal under the Petroleum Industry Act (PIA).
Falana argues that the NNPCL’s pricing of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) from Dangote Refinery at ₦950 per litre violates market deregulation laws and ignores section 205 of the PIA, which mandates prices to be determined by market forces.
He also condemned NNPCL’s decision to purchase petrol in dollars, despite government directives to trade in naira.
