EFCC Arrests Eight for Illegal Mining in Ogun State

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has arrested two Chinese nationals and six Nigerians in Ogere, Ogun State, over alleged involvement in illegal mining activities. According to a statement released in Abuja, the suspects—Zhang Hang Lin, Gao Pei Hai, and six others—were apprehended on Friday during a sting operation based on credible intelligence and thorough surveillance by the commission.

Recovered from the suspects were three trucks filled with suspected ground lithium powder, other unverified solid minerals, a Toyota 4Runner SUV, mobile phones, international passports, ATM cards, flashlights, and various documents linked to the case. The EFCC stated that the suspects will be prosecuted once investigations are complete.
