Dangote Cement Plc has promised full support for Ruth Otabor, sister of Big Brother Naija Season 7 winner, Phyna, after she was involved in a serious accident with one of the company’s cement trucks in Auchi, Edo State. The accident happened just six days after Ms Otabor graduated from Auchi Polytechnic.
According to eyewitnesses, the heavy-duty truck ran over Ms Otabor’s leg, and it took the swift action of a bystander to chase down the truck and stop it. The truck driver allegedly attempted to flee the scene but was eventually apprehended. The reality star, Phyna, expressed her outrage on Instagram, lamenting the handling of the case.
Ms Otabor sustained severe injuries that led to the amputation of her leg, leaving her family and community in shock. While it remains unclear whether she was by the roadside or inside a vehicle at the time of the incident, the tragic development has drawn significant public attention.
In a statement released on Thursday, Dangote Cement confirmed the accident and assured that senior officials and insurers had visited Ms Otabor and her family at Irrua Specialist Teaching Hospital. The company pledged comprehensive medical care, appropriate compensation, and continued support in line with its welfare policy, while extending wishes for her full and speedy recovery.
