A Federal High Court in Jigawa has adjoined the judgment in a case against Ifeanyi Onyewuenyi a Department of State Security (DSS)) official for alleged abduction, forceful conversion to Christianity and sexual abused of an alleged underage girl, Walida Abdulhad ftom Jigawa State to April 28, 2026.
Ifeanyi Onyewuenyi was accused of committing the crime in 2023.
According to PUNCH, during the latest hearing, tensions escalated when the defense requested more time to adjust their records, a move that prosecutors strongly opposed. Legal representatives for the victim have accused the DSS of deliberately obstructing justice, pointing to ignored court orders that demanded the girl’s release and the suspect’s transfer to police custody. Instead, the agency is alleged to have retained control of both the victim and the accused, raising serious concerns about accountability.
Prosecutor Kabir Adamu has described the situation as a blatant conflict of interest, warning that the integrity of the judicial process is at risk. With the victim still separated from her family and the accused shielded from standard investigation procedures, public trust is eroding. The case now stands as a troubling test of whether national security institutions can be held accountable—or whether power will once again override justice.
