The Anambra State Police Command has arrested six male suspects following a successful raid on a drug den in Oko community, Orumba North Local Government Area. The operation, which took place in the early hours of June 25, 2025, led to the recovery of a large quantity of hard substances. The suspects, aged between 24 and 35, are currently undergoing interrogation.
According to a statement by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, the raid was ordered by the Commissioner of Police, CP Ikioye Orutugu, who has identified drug abuse as a major contributor to criminal activity in the state. The CP directed a targeted crackdown on criminal activities in Oko and its surrounding areas to combat the rising trend of substance-related crimes.
The suspects arrested were identified as Joseph Chukwura, Emmanuel Chukwuemeka, Ifeanyi Agbanari, Igwe Chineche, Mmadufor Chinecherem, Chibueze Chukwumankpam, and Mmadubom Uchenna. All were taken into custody by operatives from the Special Anti-Cultism Squad based in Enugwu Ukwu. They are being questioned for information that could help solve recent criminal incidents in the area.
The Police Command believes that the raid is a major step in exposing hidden criminal networks operating in Oko. Authorities are optimistic that continued efforts in this direction will significantly reduce crime rates. The police promised to share further updates as the investigation progresses.
