Again, the Federal Government has suspended the recruitment process into the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), the Fire Service and the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS).
The Civil Defence, Correctional, Fire, and Immigration Services Board (CDCFIB) announced the temporary suspension of the recruitment application portal, citing the need to enhance system capacity and ensure a seamless recruitment exercise. The decision was made public on Wednesday in a statement issued by the Secretary to the Board, Maj. Gen. AM Jibril (retd.), in Abuja. Portal to reopen on July 21.
According to Jibril, the portal, which caters to the recruitment needs of the Board’s paramilitary agencies, will be reopened on Monday, July 21, 2025, after the ongoing upgrade is completed.
This development will ensure that the portal accommodates the high volume of applications while guaranteeing a smooth, transparent, and fair recruitment process,” the statement read. He added that the upgrade was necessary following an overwhelming surge in applications since the recruitment exercise commenced on June 30, 2025.
Suspension Affects All Four Agencies
It stated that the suspension affects all agencies under the CDCFIB umbrella, including the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Nigerian Immigration Service, Federal Fire Service, and the Nigerian Correctional Service.
Jibril urged applicants not to panic but to monitor the portal closely and be prepared to complete their submissions once it goes live again. The board reassured applicants that the process would remain free, transparent, and merit-based, promising equal opportunity for all eligible candidates.
