After five years away from international competitions, Nigeria’s Beach Soccer team, the Sand Eagles, celebrated their return with a 5-4 win against Mauritania. The match was the first leg of the Nations Cup qualification.

Revived under the new leadership of Nigeria Football Federation (NFF, the team traveled to Nouakchott in Mauritania, where they secured a narrow victory over the host.
With this win, Nigeria is close to qualifying for the 2024 Beach Africa Cup of Nations.
They will play the second leg next week in Nigeria, aiming to secure their spot in the tournament.
