Queues Spread As Petrol Hits N1,100/litre in Abuja

According to reports , queues for Premium Motor Spirit (PMS), commonly known as petrol, which persisted in Abuja and neighbouring states , have also spread to Lagos and other regions across the country.

The report added that marketers have said that the situation might drag till the weekend. While motorists spent hours on the queues at the few filling stations dispensing the product, black marketer operators sold the product at between N1,000 and N1,100/litre to desperate motorists.

Meanwhile some retail outlets raised their petrol pump price to N900/litre, particularly in Abuja, Nasarawa and Niger.

However, the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) had explained that the scarcity of the product was due to recent thunderstorm and logistics challenges which disrupted activities at fuel loading jetties.

It, however, stated that it was working with stakeholders to tackle the situation.

The situation in other states across the nation is not any better.

In Ogun State, the product sold for between N700 and N750/litre in most of the independent filling stations. However, there were long queues at NNPC stations that sold the product at N580/litre.

In Sokoto State, the product went for between N900 and N950/litre as at yesterday .

In Asaba, the capital of Delta State, and its environs, the commodity sold at between N730 and N790/litre.

However, in locations like Ibusa, Issele-Uku, Issele-Azagba, and Agbor, among other towns, the product went for between N765 to N790/litre.

Meanwhile, the NNPC mega filling station along Benin-Asaba Express sold the product at N590/litre.

In Ilorin, Kwara State, the product was sold at between N600 and N750/litre.
