Delta State Command of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has expressed concern over the growing number of women being arrested for drug-related offences followin the seizure of illicit drugs worth about ₦2 billion over the past year as part of its efforts to combat drug trafficking and abuse in the state.
The command said the seizures were made during various operations targeting drug dealers, traffickers and other individuals involved in the illegal distribution of controlled substances across Delta State.
The command, said women now constitute an increasing proportion of those apprehended during drug enforcement operations.
The development has raised concerns about the changing pattern of drug-related activities in the state, with the NDLEA stressing the need for greater public awareness, prevention efforts and stronger action against illicit drug trafficking and abuse.
