Former Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami (SAN), has has accused the Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Ola Olukayode of bias, personal vendetta, and political persecution, called on him to step aside from an ongoing investigation involving him.

Malami argues that the EFCC chairman cannot oversee a fair process in the matter. He claimed that the investigation is politically motivated rather than based on genuine law enforcement concerns.
Speaking through his media aide, Muhammad Doka, Malami further alleged that the EFCC has subjected him to illegal detention, media harassment, and procedural abuses. He described the commission’s actions as unlawful and designed to damage his reputation.
Malami insisted that he has already been prejudged by the EFCC leadership, making it impossible for him to receive a fair, objective, and lawful investigation under the current chairman. He therefore maintained that Olukayode should recuse himself to ensure credibility and due process.
