FMBN Inaugurates Its Anti-Corruption Unit To Entrench Accountability

The Federal Mortgage Bank of Nigeria has inaugurated new members of its Anti-Corruption and Transparency Unit (ACTU) at the Bank’s Abuja headquarters yesterday, November 19, 2025. The event marks a key step in FMBN’s ongoing reforms to entrench accountability and integrity across its operations.

Managing Director/CEO Shehu Usman Osidi emphasized the importance of the new members’ role, stating, “Your selection is a call to serve and uphold the highest standards of ethics as we work together to sustain the culture of accountability and transparency we are building across FMBN.”

Osidi reaffirmed Management’s support for ACTU, highlighting its role in strengthening internal systems in areas like procurement, customer service, credit administration, and financial reporting. He urged the new members to build on their predecessors’ foundation, enhance staff sensitization, and maintain open engagement with Management.

ICPC Chairman Dr. Musa Adamu Aliyu, SAN (represented by Dr. Olusegun Adigun), commended FMBN for its support and noted ACTU’s strategic role in providing reliable and affordable mortgage access. “ACTU complements Management by identifying systemic weaknesses, strengthening ethical conduct, and promoting transparency,” he said.

Key responsibilities of ACTU include sensitization, Corruption Risk Assessments, systems review, and investigations. The event featured oath administration to new members and presentation of the Unit’s Standing Order.

The inauguration demonstrates FMBN’s commitment to ethical standards, internal controls, and transparency, aligning with its mission to provide affordable homeownership to Nigerians.
