Police in Istanbul have launched an investigation into the cause of death of two Dutch brothers, and their 57 year old father taken to hospital in a state of shock after raising the alarm when his sons failed to respond late at night.

The brothers, aged 15 and 17, were found dead in their hotel room in Istanbul’s Fatih district, near the Blue Mosque and Grand Bazaar with initial suspicion pointing to food poisoning from their restaurant meal.
According to Turkish media, the family had gone to the popular Taksim district for dinner, though the father claimed he did not eat. Hours later, he discovered his sons unresponsive and cried for help, drawing the attention of hotel staff. A hotel worker confirmed that one boy was found on the bed and the other on the floor.
The cause of death, with initial suspicion pointing to food poisoning from their restaurant meal. Authorities are awaiting further findings to confirm what led to the tragedy.
