Academic and non-academic staff of Lagos State University (LASU) have commenced an indefinite strike due to unresolved welfare concerns and other issues with the university management. The industrial action began on Thursday, July 31, 2025, affecting all campuses of the institution.

Although the specific grievances were not detailed at the time of the report, the strike was officially confirmed through a letter addressed to the Vice Chancellor, Professor Ibiyemi Olatunji-Bello. The letter was signed by the leaders of four major staff unions in LASU under the Joint Action Committee.
The unions involved include the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), the Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities (SSANU), the Non-Academic Staff Union of Educational and Associated Institutions (NASU), and the National Association of Academic Technologists (NAAT). They reached the decision to strike during an emergency congress.
The unions made it clear that the strike would continue indefinitely until their demands are met. Staff members have been instructed to withdraw all services and vacate their duty posts immediately across LASU’s main and affiliate campuses.
