In a significant breakthrough against terrorism, the Multinational Joint Task Force (MNJTF) announced that 210 Boko Haram members, including conscripted fighters and their families, have surrendered to troops operating under Sector 2 in Bol, Baga Sola. This mass defection is credited to the MNJTF’s intensified military and psychological operations in the region. The terrorists admitted to engaging in violent activities around Bakatolerom, Barkalam, Litri, and Kaiga Ngbouboun.

The troops recovered ten assorted weapons from the surrendered fighters. Commander of Sector 2, Major General Moussa Haussa, praised the soldiers for their dedication and urged continued momentum, stressing that terrorism has no future in the area. He also assured that the defectors would be treated humanely and enrolled in the MNJTF’s deradicalisation programme.
Brigadier General Saleh Haggar Tidjani, Governor of the Lake Chad Region, welcomed the surrender and revealed plans for a skill acquisition initiative to aid the reintegration of the ex-terrorists into civilian life. The MNJTF reaffirmed its commitment to sustaining peace through a balanced approach of military action and social rehabilitation across the Lake Chad Basin.
